Ruth Ngulube

Ruth, a mother of three from Zambia, bought at solar light to replace their kerosene lamp. The family income comes from a grocery shop in the market near their home. “We use the solar light when chatting, the children use it to study and do their homework, and we also use it for lighting outside for security. The teacher at school told the children and then they told me about the light so I decided to buy it for them. We are able to cook late and we feel safer because we are able to see outside in the dark in case we hear any strange noises. The light stays on for a very long time. The light does not go off until after a long time and we do not have to worry about the cost of keeping it on, so the children study for longer.”
